Springfield City Council to hear building code updates Monday
By Local Springfield news desk
The Springfield City Council will hear the first reading of an ordinance to update the city's building codes on Monday.
The proposed updates are expected to take effect on January 1, 2027, and aim to adopt the 2024 International Building Codes with local amendments.
According to BDS Director Martin Gugel, the updates will result in clearer compliance and enforcement, and create more predictable rules for builders and homeowners.
